Geek
I guess that now, after all these years I can admit it, yes, I AM a geek. I absolutely love it when Apple comes out with a new toy; or tossing and playing with code like PHP or style with CSS, and yes, I have like 25 email accounts spread all over the internet, and yes, most of them I rarely use and keep them only as means to use them as spam traps (which works quite well actually for the most of the bulk, and if not, there is also SpamSieve to clean up when spam is trying to make its way onto my drive). Well yes, and I have a BLOGGER account which I do not use any longer and also have an account with BLOGLINES (well, one never knows, maybe one day I am glad to have it?!!!) and of course I have a .MAC account with its own homepage (which I only use to test stuff or quickly show my family something).
And now I subscribed to FLICKR with its own options of uploading and sharing photos, even though we (Bear and I) have our own server which I can use and have been using and will be using. But wait - there IS a thought behind it: a) it’s good to know what is currently available plus maybe to even let others in the family know about it as it might be useful to THEM; and b) there are various plugins which work with the new version of WordPress which relate to Flickr and pull photos directly from there etc. and maybe I could apply this principle to my updated version of this site or be lazy and use those plugins! Then, now there is a freebee called FlickrExport which works with iPhoto and allows the user to directly upload to Flickr from within iPhoto (how much easier can it get for non-computer-literate friends and family?). And on Flickr photos can be viewed in a calendar which is what I failed to achieve with my old photocalendar plugin here on this site.
To make it even more challenging for me to decide which way to go, I stumbled this morning over WebPhotoPro and I really like it and it seems to be an option if I do not want to go via Flickr but want the same possibilities. Singapore I like really much but in some ways seems a tad clumsy for my needs (it’s what is driving my current photo section). WebPhotoPro works well with WordPress and allows me to do what I want (except commenting on individual photos) but costs a lot for my current budget and Flickr right now is free but will cost something on a yearly basis in the future with storage limitation (but to fill 1 GB with data it will take a while) and my photos will not be on my own server.
So, now what?

Been testing WebPhotoPro server edition, but having so far some hurdles to cross - this makes it a bit less appealing to buy. Came also across pixelpost which at this point almost looks more appealing - but I had really liked the search and tag abilities of WebPhotoPro, so I am still messing around with various stuff.
