Installing Tiger

Installing was fast, but what comes after was a mess. Just to get the basics in like driver for the Wacom tablet, Hot Sync Manager no longer working, re-download PalmDesktop and re-install. But sync does not work if I don’t manually launch Conduit Manager - the error tells me it needs to be in the same folder as the HotSync Manager, and guess what, it IS in the same folder. Then it tells me the .Mac login failed but on the other hand the preference window shows how much space I have on the iDisk and that syncs fine. Then something about my trial account has expired - but I’m already in the 2nd year of my .mac account! Probably somewhere some cached file getting into the way. Most annoying: everything seems SLOOOW. Not smooth, jerky. And the CPU’s suddenly go real hot again with fan working like mad and all action coming to a halt. I had brought the machine in to be checked out recently and we could not find anything and during the past few weeks it seemed to run just fine. And now again hot running.

Am I impressed with Dashboard? Not really, even though it’s nifty, but I think I like Konfabulator still better, it integrates much nicer with the environment. The best thing so far is Spotlight and that iCal FINALLY has groups. Oh, and my new 300 GB FireWire drive arrived - in an aluminium enclosure (FW 800 + USB 2), looks great and fits right in with the G5.
