After installing Tiger, I needed to get QuickTime Pro 7 and then I began playing around and checking out the Quicktime Broadcasting application. That’s pretty much fun – just don’t try serving your own computer where you are recording, the feedback from the audio will kill your ear drums in an instant. So I put it up onto the web and checked it out on my powerbook. Under Panther I could get the streaming sound but not image (QT dialog box apologized that it was missing a needed software and it was not available currently), it’s not yet upgraded to 7 and Tiger and even though the documentation said it supports earlier QT it didn’t seem to. But on the desktop under Tiger and QT 7 the iSight camera streamed nicely to the website (of course all w/o audio feedback for my own ears sake). Now the only thing I would need to find is a reason to get people gathered around the computer at the same time and something intelligent to say and to send out, to make it truly BROAD-casting.
Playing around with this stuff made me think how cool our marriage now would be, instead live on a Hotline Server like back then, live via QuickTime Broadcasting with the current technology. At that time my hair was almost at its longest and right now it’s almost at its shortest. Times DO change.
