Day Eight : Mile 2,166 : Indianapolis

Liberty in Gray

Leaving New York was way less of a nightmare than coming into town, we took the HOLLAND tunnel and had barely a stop. It was the first day of rain: storm and wind accompanied us for the first third of the trip, but after we again had a dry drive.

Deciding to push it today, we made it through to Indianapolis. And once again did the internet access via my cell phone pay well. Not only was Bear able to be several hours online while I drove, but once we left Columbus – after an horrible dinner at Taco Bell – I could surf the web and find a hotel on our way and check out prices and book the hotel room – we arrived late, but as we had deliberately booked a hotel south-west of Indianapolis, right off the highway (I-70WB) we knew we would not get stuck in the morning into the city bound traffic.

The room stunk as usual of some cleaning agent – quite sweet this time – but the bed was firm and there was highspeed wireless internet connection of which I didn’t make any use, nor of the indoor pool. Much rather did I dribble to sleep while watching some cheesy movie.
