Day Nine : Mile 2,650 : Home

Passing through St. Louis

It might be a very possible sign of age, but I’m absolutely happy to again be at home. So are the cats. The moment Tricky heard my voice in the garage he began crying for me and ever since hasn’t left my side for more than a few seconds at a time, combined with Xena not letting me out of her reach, only 6 hours later I’m already again ready to leave the house, especially knowing it will continue like this all night until the 2 cats are certain I won’t be disappearing again.

Only 2 days before we began our trip, Houston was announced to be in the path of Hurricane Rita and it was speculated by some newspaper(s) that gas prices could rise to $5 - but we went anyways and were lucky that Rita didn’t hit Houston and nor did overly raised fuel prices hurt our budget. Next to that, the Mini averaging above 32 miles per gallon, a trip quite bearable.
