Official

It is now official – I am admitted and enrolled and paid! – I am again a STUDENT.

Sit back and digest.

A student at the college right here around the corner – yes, in walking distance, thats how intelligently we bought our house almost 3 years ago. This means I have now officially entered the American schooling system, have a student ID number and can from now on always refer back to this fact of having been a college student at this particular college. This is quite a thing by itself, because it means I have now left behind the Swiss schooling system and I no longer need to try and describe how our system aligns with the American one and no longer need to figure out where in the flow line I am – which on the other hand might again become at some later point an issue if and when I suddenly want to go for a degree after all, because then we need to figure out how many credits equivalents I’ve basically already have earned and bring from my Swiss education to the table.

But next to the fact of being at a college here in the US, the by far more exciting point of it all is the subject I’ve enrolled into is: ART.

Sit back and digest again.

Much better even. I’ve been accepted and enrolled directly into ART STUDIO WORKSHOP I – which has Paining/Drawing class I and class II as pre-requesit – while by-passing the pre-requesit classes. Last Monday I had met with the Professor of Art who will be the instructor and showed him my portfolio and he accepted me to the Art Studio Workshop without the pre-requesits. So THIS is great. REALLY great. I jumped in on the last moment, tomorrow is first class. There is the option that if after a little while we think it’s better and I do want more of the structure as in Paint II, I’ll switch. But so far, since last week and the interview, my mind is reeling with thoughts and ideas and concept of what I want to work on this semester. Oh, and I do get credit for it too. For that degree I don’t need but might still want to have some day. Just to prove myself something. But that is way out and if I suddenly no longer find myself wrapped up in 200 cycles at any given moment. And that is then.

Now, now there is just challenge, improvement and creative tickle.

Sit back.

Sit back and enjoy.
