Today you wouldn’t want to live here.

Outside it’s reaching 100º Fahrenheit today. Basically a great summer day. But inside, where I am, it is currently at 95º.

Yes, our AC died today. Just like that, didn’t even ask for my permission. What an insult as it’s a newer model (from 2002 or 2001).

Humidity is bad with being at 58% but worst of all: not the slightest twirl of movement in the air. Open windows across the house and still no breeze.

That I am suffering is bad enough, but mostly concerned am I for our two cats. They don’t have the option to sit in the car with running AC, or to take an ice cold shower when it gets too worm or go to Dairy Queen to have a shake when it becomes too horrible to stand.

We are actually lucky that a service man can come out tomorrow afternoon. I really hope he is able to fix it without delay.

  1. Well, it turned out it wasn’t our fault - something like not changing the filter for 3 years or not cleaning it on the outside from time to time - but we had mice manage to move into the electrical departement. Literally. Somehow they got into that little area and had built a great nest and next to it chewed through several cables and killed a solenoid.

At 3 PM - day after the breakdown - the AC was running again. But it took until the morning after to cool down our house and to be back at normal.

I grew up without AC and in restaurants and shops I usually hate it as it’s waaay too cold - but boy oh boy, was I happy to have OUR little AC backup and running!
