How stupid can I be?

Well, pretty stupid.

At times.

Not always.

I swear.

But for a moment greed took overhand and I answered on a mule-fishing-job-offer.

Really, THAT stupid.

Being an artist and all of that, OF COURSE it sounded perfect to work 10 hours a week but earn enough to survive and have all other time free to do what I am mostly interested in.

But once again the rule applies that when it sounds too good to be true, it (very probably) is not true.

Right now I am slapping myself left and right plus stomping on my own feet.

Not that I got ACTIVE for them, oh no. But I was stupid enough to give them my address. As my alarm bells had been going off, I had checked first with Bear what they could do with my address and he was not too worried about that. I also did not give our home phone number but a cell number. Plus the email address I supplied is of a very old Yahoo account I mean to kill since months. Might be just the time now to finally do that.

I had done a quick research on the web - before entering my data on their site - to see if I find anything fraudulent about that company, but nothing had turned up. Today, when I received a reply from that company and saw that they are also engaged in money forwarding service the alarm bells in my head exploded. So I did more research on the web with better formulated search terms and then I suddenly found about 5 good sites explaining this exact fraud.

The reason I’m slapping my self so badly is that I was stupid enough to give them my name and address in the first place. Grrrr.

In case you stumble over something similar and would like to read-up on the subject, here are a few good links: Joe Wein and Suckers Wanted. And the following are news reports on this issue: USA Today and MSN.com.
