Sometimes I hate it all.
All this blogging and coding and breaking of code especially.
Yesterday all was still fine. I even opened the site to get a link for Darin and so I KNOW the sidebar worked just fine. Really. I am not making it up. It all was just fine and I hadn’t touched the code in months.
Today I try a new FTP application because Cyberduck is slowly but surely giving me more frustration than joy - even though for years it was my favorite FTP application! - and the problems begin. Actually I only wanted to edit the file quickly on the server, delete a few lines of code.
But no.
Suddenly the sidebar is gone?!! Why?!!??? NO IDEA. Just plain frustrating.
Trying to track it down, did I not close a PHP tag, did I introduce a wrong type of line break. Nope, all is as should be. Weird. In the end it seems to be my little hack for the categories. But why oh why? I haven’t touched that section in months and the ONLY thing I was going to take out was the Google Ads further down and once I had deleted the code all had gone to hell. And I had managed to overwrite my only file while trying out this new application and of course last backup is months ago and it still had the old category treatment in it. The only thing I managed for now is to copy/paste all other modified code into this old backup and forget about the more advanced category section. Will get gray hair another day over this nuisance. I mean, c’mon, just needed to delete a few lines of code and now that! No time. Need to work.

And just to confuse it all - today when I go back in and copy/paste the EXACT SAME CODE back into my PHP file all works again as it used to.
