Is cheating ever acceptable?

This is todays question of QUOFDA (Question of the Day) which is one of these questions one can answer in many ways: honest, thoughtful, serious, jokingly or not at all.

Basically it depends on the viewpoint of the game. Considering everything a game, then even cheating is a game and thus nothing else then the game that is being cheated. And from a distant viewpoint like that you can say that cheating is nothing “bad”.

Also, the levels of cheating are quite different: cheating on your wife has probably higher consequences than cheating on the draw of who has to clean the kitchen this evening.

But if you are serious about something, even though it’s just a game, but to you it is important that one sticks to the rules, well then cheating is totally against the agreements and can cause a lot of pain.

That was the long answer.

The short answer is: “it depends”.
