WordPress.com February 2008 Wrap-up

These numbers are mind boggling. This is for ONE month. Interesting to see that there are about double as many comments than posts.

It feels like it has been a long time since I have looked at a WordPress.com wrap-up, but every time I do, I am blown away by the hugeness of the numbers Matt lays down.

  • 245,329 blogs were created.
  • 432,478 new users joined.
  • 1,920,593 file uploads.
  • 2,814,893 posts and 996 thousand new pages.
  • 4,961,330 comments.

At Northern Voice, Matt mention that they get two times more content added to WordPress.com than Wikipedia does.

Introducing Prologue « WordPress.com

Nice theme, especially if you’re going to do some group project and don’t want to use one of the many online options.

We’re fans of Twitter around here, in fact many Automatticians have accounts, but while the format appealed to us it really just whetted our appetite for something more, like a way for each of us to share short messages about what we’re doing or working on internally, or private messages between groups of folks.

WordPress › AnswerLinks « WordPress Plugins

For the day that I will finally upgrade WP, even though it is a bit less useful for me as I write in MarsEdit and quite rarely directly in the browser.

AnswerLinks is a plugin that will auto-suggest links to definitions on Answers.com for words in your blog posts.

WordPress 2.3

Neat new features!

I’m thrilled to announce that Version 2.3 “Dexter” of WordPress is now ready for the world. This release includes native tagging support, plugin update notification, URL handling improvements, and much more. This release is named for the great tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon.
