It was an early dinner at 5:30 PM but nonetheless very welcome after a day of cleaning and organizing our new office space. Currently they are running a special at Nikko’s, eat one get one free which doesn’t make the bill to be half but saving $22 off the total is a nice touch. We don’t see Brendan often and this makes the growing up to jump so much more to my attention. One day a 14-year old boy, next it’s somebody who is preparing himself to join the Navy. Then you turn around and he will be married.

Since the adrenaline push for past Sunday’s Mother’s day get-together has evaporated, pretty much everything else has too. Monday and Tuesday where marked with further good foods and company in the evenings - Fish on Monday with Joan and Jim and Japanese Steakhouse on Tuesday with Teri and George. And already was the day of my dad’s departure here.

With the basement finally done - except some smaller projects - and the workout machines in place it is really a nice invite to get my exercise back into routine. But next to that and general work, my air of action has deflated for the moment and I am enjoying it.

My father is coming tomorrow for a 1 week visit. By now, the once a year visits is all what I see from my family and I cherish these days tremendously. But here I’m sitting and trying to gather my last willpower to getup and straighten up the house - and mainly the guest room - for his arrival tomorrow, but I can barely move and every step is a battle to be won. That is what weeks of non-stop remodeling after a bad incident with my back resulted in. Now I am so pumped out that I don’t even care if the house isn’t spotless clean by tomorrow. In a way, it gives me this “laid back” attitude which is so nice… but it would be MUCH nicer if it would not be combined with this total exhaustion! Oh, BTW., the basement is beginning to look REALLY cool! Here a shot of our new 200 sqft cork floor from our workout area.

While I was sitting upstairs browsing the web and having my feet up, my husband was downstairs in the basement, mudding away to the tunes of Black Eyed Peas. And then, suddenly there it was. Never heard before. Never, not in my wildest dream, ever expected it to happen. My husband was singing to the tunes of Gone Going. To understand the magnitude of this event you need to know that he has probably the largest CD collection you’ve ever seen (iTunes then on top of that), but he doesn’t dance. We are married for over 10 years and I have never heard him utter a sound above and beyond speech. And here he was, after 2 weeks of dreadfully endless mudding, singing while mudding and the chorus line of And its gone… gone… going… is echoing from the walls.
