Birthday

As I’ve been dead here for pretty much a year I thought this the perfect day to start rolling again. Of course I need to re-fresh and re-design the look and feel here… and some fixes would be in place too. But apart of that, I just missed my daily explorations and musings.

Currently I am playing with a cool little app on the iPhone called STORIE – you can get info about it @ http://www.storieapp.com and it allows you to bundle photos under one theme / subject. The cool thing about this is that you can embed it via an iframe on any website.

OF COURSE the theme of today would be, guess what, my birthday – with emphazis on DAY.

Thought I’ll track my day – THE day I generally devote just to myself and my current moods. Today is devoted to hanging out, spending some money (including my $200 cash gift from last Xmas), going to the movies and eating to much while the first winter cold and snow front is approaching.

The past is working hard to catch up with me.

Not only has Féodora reached out to me after so many years and brought so much joy with this, but today – only barely a month later – her father emailed me too. And this contact was just as much out of the blue. He is thinking about her, he is telling me, wondering how she’s doing. Thought vibes transferring the universe, bouncing all around like a dance of light on water, and he caught the ruckus. It’s incredible how high the adrenaline can go with these incidents, combined it is even exponentially higher. THAT’s what beauty of life is about.

Morning Tweet : Having things turn surreal on me is not something new: please welcome my daughter Anna-Barbara after 26 yrs back into it. I am so thrilled.

On June 1st I received a letter from Switzerland, by seeing the logo alone on the envelope I instantly knew where it was coming from and my heart began to beat fast.

Indeed, it was from the Swiss Adoption Center. I am so glad that I had updated my info with the center when we moved to Kansas! The letter was written somewhat unclear, did she or did she not want contact? First step was to give my okay to relay my information to her (shesh, I thought they had that on file!). Of course I instantly emailed them back. When I did not hear back yesterday I already begun worrying – maybe she found my online blog and now no longer wants to talk to me? I did well though in letting these thoughts drift away and was able to concentrate on work… for the most of the day.

This morning I had an email response. The lady was astonished how fast the letter had arrived by me and happy to hear how open I am, and she said this will make my daughter very very happy to hear. So far contact has been only between them and me, but now she can contact me directly (and the big wait for it begins :-).

Absolutely adorable. We have found 2 kittens – yes, 2 and not just 1 as originally planned - which will be joining us within the next 10 days.

Currently barely 10 weeks old and still living with their foster mom and only known under their aliases of Sarah and Tommy, but moving in within the next 10 days to change the dynamic of the household forever. And it definitely will get even more interesting with the 4th one, the Savannah which we expect sometime in spring of 2010.

Tricky just died.

I don’t even know how to describe the pain we both feel. He was such a great cat. We are still trying to cope with reality, to accept the fact that he died only an hour ago under our hands while having a seizure / heart attack (probably caused by a blood clot). It happened so darn fast. We were both there which was good. The feeling of agony because of not being able to sooth and take the pain away from the creature when something like this happens is unbelievable.

A few hours and many tears later. It still seems utterly surreal. We made him a nice resting place in his bed, with his two favorite toys, a mouse and a large, peacock feather. And put him down into the earth by our curly willows. It’s a good place.

We are both struck by grief.
