Tomorrow is the day for the new iPhone. It has been now a year and I wouldn’t want to go back to any other sort of mobile phone.

But now, it has become even more exciting because now I’m able to make the step away from my Palm and instead of having always 2 devices to carry, it will only be one.

Today we put our hands on a version 2.0 software update and of course, who could resist! For the past few hours Bear and I have been downloading freeware games and social networking and whatnot applications, playing and wasting some idle time scrutinizing all.

I also put my hands on a few items which I would not want to miss since my Palm days: dictionaries and a good German - English translator. Those 2 have been my big expenses today, but of course I also bought Things, THE todo application for me. The new phone has already built in GPS so I won’t miss TomTom too badly. Only thing missing now is a decent time tracking application… which will hopefully show up soon! Found even an okay version of the Pyramid and Sudoku.

Tomorrow, after purchasing the new phone, I will update and make my MobileMe move…

Oh, I am having so much FUN!

Hours later pictures of the movie crossed my mind and again the wave of beautiful! washed over my emotions. Not planned was this side trip into human subtlety, had only meant to serve as a little backdrop during my brief lunch, the move Dear Frankie draw me in and in and kept me glued to the end. This story of the deaf boy and his mom, it’s just… fine and beautiful.

This is the thing that struck me when I was reading one of the COMMENTS to Ashley Morgan’s posting at UPSTART BLOGGER in regards to giving away a running, 5 letter .com domain including blog and which at this time already is producing income. Sit back and understand this! Any wolf would lick it’s claws and any small cat would purr her fur off her butt for the chance of getting in possession of such a chance!

Of course, the domain, blog, free hosting and so on are already honey drops, but when I saw that the domain and blog to win is a Wordpress showcase blog, featuring the best Wordpress powered sites, this is where I began licking my lips as if the sweetest milk had just past my nose. If you look at my categories and digg into the ASIDES, you will find that up-to-date I have posted 223 postings on the subject of WordPress alone and I’ve created all my WP themes myself and YES, I am a huge fan of WP and thus I am sniffing this faint odor of sweet, sweet milk… that would be such an honor, to win this domain and to continue running it!

Now lets see if cats can dream enough to make this one come true.

It has now been a week. And I am still in bed. This kind of prolonged healing process is something new for me. Positive aspect of it is that it has allowed me to waste time across the internet. But also to indulge a bit more into my new blog, TarotDivergency. I am fascinated that within 4 days when I had launched the site, I have received already more comments than after 6 weeks of intensive work on mStudiosTALK. Possibly the new site invites more to exchange. But maybe it really hits home where I did not calculate. This blog is really something unique and from my view point and grown on my turf. I am also not trying to please people, it is just a place I can finally put down in words what I feel and my viewpoints on this subject. It also allows me to gather some thoughts as it forces me to put concepts into words. It IS quite fascinating that in these few days and only within 2 posts I have received already 5 different comments, next to a private email exchange. I am really happy about this. Hope to keep the drive up on it.

Today Gaby - good friend from Switzerland - messaged me and we had a neat thirty minute chat mid afternoon. It is always so nice to have contact with her, I feel still very close to her and cherish our chats, as wide spread in time they often are.

Then, not even an hour later I suddenly had a request to be added to my contacts lists on Skype from a very unexpected source: Isabelle (my oldest niece in Switzerland) and her husband Claudio. What a hyper cool surprise! Only minutes later we were chatting online and I was able to grab a screenshot of her baby belly she was showing to me on her camera - she is due in only 3 weeks and now they are ready to go into labor any day soon.

I’ve installed Skype only a few days ago on my machine - the only reason being that my mom was pushing for it “because all her PC friends are on it”. I had resented strongly installing it for her, it is an additional application to confuse her and she is using computers only since 3 months and as good as she is doing, there are areas she is definitely still struggling and thus I wanted to keep the amount of applications down. But due to her repeated reference to it, I went ahead, downloaded it myself and created an account and then did the same for her yesterday via VNC on her machine in Cape Town.

The sound was surprisingly loud and sometimes nice and clear - still a time delay like with iChat but louder otherwise. At first I thought it would beat the quality of iChat but then the voice also began breaking up plus between us we’d have the oddest noises intermingled, as if some audio feedback was interfering. We have not been able to fix this - one reason of the voice breaking up is definitely her bandwidth she is on because it becomes almost non-audible when I am controlling her computer via VNC and in the end it seems to be just as good and weak as iChat. Though I’ve noticed that when she had Skype launched I no longer could log in via VNC… so maybe in this sense it is even more trouble prone.

Talking with Isabelle and Claudio, I had no bad noise feedback. They hooked me up with even more family members on Skype and I am really excited to have the option to now chat from time to time with my family - who, by-the-way, with exception of my dad and mom, I haven’t seen in 7 years!

I’m so glad for Spaces - now I have 1 Space setup for all my communication channels : PowerMail which is my email application of choise, Adium which allows me to have my 7 different chat accounts all in one place (ICQ, MSN, AIM, Bonjour, Yahoo, Google and Mac) and now, all new in the mix, I have Skype, the online ‘phone’ chat in that Space too.

As usual, this brings me to the point to ensure I am only available for chat when I really don’t need to do something else… main reason I stopped being so often online in the first place.
